Grayson County offers boundless tourism and recreational opportunities guaranteed to please folks of all ages and lifestyles.
     

The Twin Lakes feature swimming, nature trails, boating, tennis, go-cart racing and much more, complete with campsites and lodging.

The 637 acre Rough River Dam State Resort Park (270-257-2311 or 800-325-1713) has fishing, boat rentals, a playground, sandy beaches and special events along with the lovely nine-hole Par 3 Rough River Golf Course.

The Kentucky Old Timer Fiddler’s Contest each July brings the finest fiddlers in the world to visit.
Nolin Lake is a 5,800 acre lake, bordering Mammoth Cave National Park and packed with beauty, activity, and over 200 miles of shoreline.

The Pine Knob Theatre near Rough River brings unique dramas to the region each summer in a 500 seat theater under the stars. Shows are “a look at the past in song and dance” with classic stories featuring outlaws, an old-time diner, the fifties, and southern folklore, amidst humor, song, dance and lots of family fun.

Honus Shain’s Pine Knob Theatre (270-879-8190) is also home to the Pine Knob Store (an old-fashioned store still operating Thursday through Sunday), the Pine Knob Wedding Chapel (frequently booked for lovely weddings), the Bird’s Nest Craft Shop (a craft shop open summer weekends) and the Pine Knob Diner (a ’50s diner open show nights).

Grayson County and its cities are also proud to sponsor numerous special events throughout the year-ice cream festivals, homecomings, flea markets, a haunted barn, Christmas festival, New Song (Christian rock concert), and so much more.

The Grayson County Fair in Leitchfield at summer’s end wraps up on Labor Day after a week packed with fun activities like tractor and truck pulls, a demolition derby, motorcycle races, horse shows, a carnival, field crops and women’s exhibits and the Miss Grayson County and Miss Teen pageants. The Grayson County 4-H and FFA Ag Fair comes to the Grayson County Agricultural Recreation Park on Caraway Road in Leitchfield each July featuring farm and youth events and exhibits such as tractor driving contests, homemaker exhibits, and sheep, hog, horse, dairy and beef shows. We offer many other athletic recreational opportunities like the county-wide soccer program operated by the Grayson County Youth Soccer Association and individual city sports programs for softball, baseball, junior pro basketball, football and cheerleading. Grayson County is also home to two beautiful 18-hole golf courses, LaFayette Golf Course at Rough River and Lakeview Golf Course in Leitchfield.
